International Student Enrolments
Although the declining trend in international enrolments since 2014 was reversed in 2019, there was a significant decrease in enrolments, from 559 in 2019 to 464 in 2020. This translated into a 17% decrease. For the past 5 years, international student enrolment as a percentage of total enrolments has remained constant at about 2% (1.58% in 2019), but in 2020 this ratio decreased to 1.36%. Of the 464 international students enrolled at DUT in 2020, 50% are from Southern African Development Community countries and 42% from other countries on the African continent. The highest enrolments are from Zimbabwe and the Democratic
Republic of Congo, comprising 49% of total international enrolments. The Internationalisation Strategy will ensure a focus on improving the ratio of international students. For the first time in 2020, DUT welcomed students from Mauritius, France and Montenegro.
Students with Disabilities
The enrolment of students with disabilities has increased over the past 3 years, from 186 in 2018 to 298 in 2020. This represented an increase of 18% relative to 2019. Disabled students comprised 0.87% of headcount enrolments in 2020.
