Gender
In 2020 there were 1 651 more female students than male students, 95% of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programmes. The number of female students as a percentage of total enrolments has
increased from 51.45% in 2019 to 52.42% in 2020. This growth occurred mainly in undergraduate enrolments. Figure 3 shows the 5-year trend in gender composition of enrolments at the University.

Enrolments by Field of Study
Enrolments by field of study is an important metric in the University of Technology (UoT) sector, with a particular focus on growing enrolments in the SET field.
Whereas there was no change in the composition of enrolments by field of study between 2018 and 2019, in 2020 SET enrolments decreased by 1 percentage point and Business/Commerce increased by the
same magnitude (Figure 4). This decrease occurred at undergraduate level, with SET enrolment falling almost 7% relative to 2019. The combined undergraduate and postgraduate SET enrolment in 2020 was 43%, that of Humanities and Education students was 17%, and Business/Commerce students comprised 40% of total headcount enrolments.
