CONCLUSION
Despite the unexpected events of 2020, the University continued to focus on its core purposes of teaching- learning and research-innovation. This report of the Senate to Council shows that the research and innovation outcomes were met, and that in fact DUT achieved recognition both in the Stewardship and Society Perspectives.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed DUT in the top 500 and 10th globally on the citation pillar alone. Our students and staff excelled
in both our teaching and learning, and research and innovation agendas. On the socio-economic front, we managed to raise and leverage over R110 million, including in-kind donations to support our teaching and learning, and research and innovation enterprise.
Although disruptions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic impacted heavily on teaching, learning and assessment, the 2020 success rates increased by 2%. DUT staff may be commended for supporting our students in the use of digital technologies to facilitate multimodal teaching, learning and assessment.
