KEY FINDINGS FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING THROUGH INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH
The First-Year Student Survey (FYSS) was administered early in 2020 at Orientation and in some faculties. The survey provides important actionable data for various departments and divisions at the University, through its focus on students’ experiences during the intake
and registration process, and the types of support they consider important for their success, A detailed report was submitted to the EMC on key findings and recommendations.3 Selected infographics are provided as a snapshot of some of these data.

50% of our students preferred other higher education institutions and it is important to know why and what DUT can do to change this.
Source of Funding
NSFAs remains the predominant source of funding for first time entering students, increasing from 79% in 2019 to 84% in 2020.
