The Student Representative Council (SRC) Projects Officer in Durban, Nonhle Dlamini obtained her National Diploma in Information and Communications Technology: Business Analysis at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2023 Autumn Graduation ceremony at the Olive Convention Centre last night (23 May 2023).
Dlamini (23) from Jolivet, Ixopo is grateful to DUT for grooming her into becoming a young and courageous leader. Her desire is to inspire other young ladies to be confident and not be afraid to be at the forefront and lead by example.
Her role as the SRC Project Officer is to represent the student body at the university with decision-making and organise ways for students to participate in and enjoy university life. Her primary role is to plan all programmes and events for DUT students. She also works hand in hand with Protection Services to maintain high level protection and safety for all DUT students.
Dlamini is proud to be amongst the seven 2022/23 SRC leadership who graduated during this Autumn Graduation season. She applauded the SRC for managing to work together in improving the teaching and learning experience for students and for also promoting academic excellence.
Her ambition is to be one day called Dr Dlamini so she plans to study further until she obtains her PhD. She is currently completing her Advanced Diploma in ICT: Business Analysis and is keen on becoming a Software Developer in the future.
Looking back at her journey at DUT, Dlamini said it began in 2020 when she enrolled for her National Diploma in ICT: Business Analysis. She has had her fair share of sleepless nights and back-to-back submissions of assignments. On top of it, being an SRC member came with the added stress and workload.
Giving a brief advice to DUT students, Dlamini said the academic path is not easy however, through hard work, one can achieve great things.
