The Durban University of Technology (DUT) graduate Sherri-Anne Ogle was delighted to be amongst the Faculty of Management Sciences’ top achievers, as she received a second Cum Laude with a Deans Merit Award for academic excellence for her Advanced Diploma in Management Sciences specializing In Human Resource Management.
She was honoured at the DUT 2024 Autumnn Graduation ceremony, which was held at the Olive Convention Centre on Saturday, 25 May 2024.
Her journey with DUT began in 2017 when she enrolled for Diploma in HR, which she completed with Cum Laude. In 2023, she decided to broader her knowledge by registering for an Advanced Diploma and surprisingly she also excelled in her academics resulting in her being awarded a Dean’s Merit Award for academic excellence.
The 35-year-old had to balance the role of being a wife, full-time employee as well as a mother of three with the youngest being only six months old at the commencement of her 2023 academic year. However, she did not allow challenges to distract her plans of producing good results. “Being the driven and aspirational individual that I am about HR, I was aware that passing the grade would not be enough and had faith in earning Cum Laude for the second time. Nonetheless, I was thrilled to receive the prestigious Dean’s Merit Award,” she shared.
Hailing from Wentworth, South of Durban, the graduand said her family was very excited to hear about her academic achievement, particularly her husband and older daughter whom she always encouraged to achieve academic excellence.
She is currently working in the Human Resource department for SBS Tanks which is a leading provider of innovative water security solutions. Her career aspirations are focused on constant growth and skill enhancement, as she is committed to staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in the domain of Human Resources.
