GRADUAND ON A MISSION TO INSPIRE YOUNG MINDS THROUGH HIS QUALIFICATION

A small village, called KwaDulela in Howick gave birth to a young ambitious man with big dreams, Ayanda Ndlovu who is on a mission to bring positive change and inspire young minds in society through his profession.

‘’I have an ardent desire to have influence, shape the future, inspire minds, and contribute positively to society through my work in classrooms and educational settings. I have a deep passion for education, I am enthusiastic about my subject matter, and enjoy inspiring students to explore innovative ideas and concepts,’’ he said.

The 22-year-old will be graduating with a Bachelor of Education in the Senior Languages Cum Laudeat Durban University of Technology’s Indumiso Campus on Monday, 13 May 2024.

On his Deans’ Merit Award achievement, Ndlovu felt that it signifies his dedication, hard work, academic excellence, commitment to his studies and a deep understanding of the subject matter.

“It is certainly a prestigious accomplishment that can open doors to further academic and career opportunities. It is a testament to my academic prowess and a source of pride and satisfaction. I am very honoured for this achievement,’’ he said.

Further stating that his achievement reminds him of the good moments and life-changing journey he had at DUT. “From the moment I stepped onto campus, I was greeted with a sense of excitement and endless possibilities. The diverse range of courses, professors, and extracurricular activities have enriched my academic experience and helped me grow both personally and professionally,’’ he said.

Ndlovu highlighted the DUT ENVISION 2030 living values and principles he associates with. ‘’I treated my colleagues, professors, and staff with respect, kindness, and consideration. Advocated for fairness, equality, and inclusivity in all aspects of university life, including interactions, opportunities, and resource distribution,’’ he added.

One of the challenges for Ndlovu during his academics was time management, struggling to balance his academics, and adapting to the university environment. “To balance coursework and extracurricular activities was difficult. Adapting to a new learning environment, not being able to use a computer, and struggling to deal with stress that comes with academics,’’ he concluded.
