FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT’S ADMINISTRATOR, DENISHA MOHABIR OBTAINED HER POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA

Promoting the principle of excellence at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2024 Autumn Graduation was Denisha Mohabir, Administrator under the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at DUT. She graduated Cum Laude for her Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Information Management.

She was amongst the first group of graduands from the Faculty of Accounting and Informatics who graduated at the Olive Convention Centre this morning (Wednesday, 22 May 2024).

Mohabir (31) from Westville was ecstatic after being honoured for her academic excellence. At DUT, she works within the academic support realm, where she plays a pivotal role in supporting administrative tasks , student affairs, and faculty operations. She aspires to one day work as an academic lecturer.

“Juggling work commitments, household responsibilities, and academic pursuits often meant sacrificing sleep and leisure time. Late nights became a routine as every spare moment was devoted to studying and completing assignments. The effort I put into advancing my career through education required significant dedication and perseverance. Maintaining open communication with my spouse became crucial to ensure understanding and support during the demanding period. Despite the challenges, my determination to achieve academic and professional goals fuelled the journey forward, making the sacrifices worthwhile in the pursuit of a brighter future,” explained Mohabir.

Commenting on graduating Cum Laude, Mohabir revealed that it was actually the second time as in her previous qualification she graduated Cum Laude and had also obtained the prestigious Dean’s Merit Award for academic excellence.

“I am still proud because graduating Cum Laude is a remarkable achievement that reflects exceptional dedication, academic excellence, and intellectual progress. Graduating Cum Laude demonstrates a commitment to learning, perseverance through challenges, and a deep understanding of the subject matter. It’s a testament to the hard work, discipline, and passion that I have invested in my studies. This achievement opens doors to further academic opportunities, career advancements, and recognition within my field,” added Mohabir.

Her aim is to bring a positive impact on the lives of the students as she is looking towards venturing into lecturing.
