The event represented a tribute to the dedication, commitment, and unyielding pursuit of excellence these young professionals have shown in the realm of emergency medical care. In taking their pledge, these individuals have elected a path characterised by bravery, compassion, and a steadfast dedication to saving lives.
Also, by taking this pledge, these graduates are embracing not merely a profession but a profound calling. They are preparing to be the initial beacon of hope in critical medical situations, signifying their readiness to enter one of the most esteemed and noble fields.
Mr Yugan Pillay, a lecturer from the Department of Emergency Medical Care and Rescue, expressed his gratitude for the department’s exceptional team, attributing the success of the prestigious ceremony to their collaborative efforts. “Seeing the department and faculty come together to support and uplift one another is truly encouraging,” Pillay remarked.
Dr Tshikani Khoza closed the ceremony by commending the diligent efforts of the faculty and celebrating the students’ achievement of this eagerly anticipated milestone.
“On behalf of the Department of Emergency Medical Care, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff and students in assisting us to reach this significant milestone. To the graduate class of 2023, we are extremely proud of you, my parting words to you are from Steve Jobs, the former CEO and founder of Apple. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking, don’t let the noise of others drown out your inner voice, and most importantly have the courage to follow your heart and intuition; they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary, stay hungry, stay foolish, never let go of your appetite to go after new ideas, new adventures, and new experiences,” quoted Dr Khoza.
