Understanding the importance of an administrator in any business or project and the pressures that came with it was what inspired Bongimusa Khumalo’s Business Administration journey. The 26-year-old graduated Cum Laude for his Advanced Diploma in Business Administration at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2024 Autumn Graduation ceremony, which was held at the Olive Convention Centre on Friday evening, 24 May 2024.
The Newcastle born is currently working at DUT, under Cooperative Education unit, where he strives for excellence in all that he does. He is currently enrolled for a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and he aims to pursue a Master’s degree next year .
His journey with the DUT began in 2020 when he enrolled in the Faculty of Management Sciences for his Diploma in Business Administration. His Journey to this level was not a particularly easy one, when he came to the institution, he was older than most of his classmates and that made me him to have doubts about studying and starting over .
“Throughout my diploma years I had a lot of doubts about myself every day and night, I had to remind myself it would be worth it at the end. I knew I may had made mistakes that held me back but it was not too late to get my tertiary qualification. In 2023, I enrolled for my Advanced Diploma in Business Administration. I had no funding but just a hope and belief in myself that I would do well and I did I receive two bursaries from Kingdom Slots and Services Seta that settled 95% of my residence and study fees. This took a huge load of my shoulder, that very same year I was blessed with my beautiful daughter,” he proudly shared.
Upon receiving his marks, Khumalo said his family was happy but not surprised as they saw the potential in him from day one.
