DUT’S TALIA PILLAY ASTOUNDED AS SHE GRADUATES CUM LAUDE FOR HER DIPLOMA IN HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

Talia Hope Pillay (21) from Chatsworth, in Durban graduated Cum Laude this evening (Monday, 29 May 2023) for her Diploma in Human Resources Management at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) held at the Olive Convention Centre (OCC).

She enrolled for the Human Resources Management (HRM) because she enjoys the business environment and wanted to be one of the female expert in the field.

“I chose to study HRM because I enjoy business, I believe in promoting equality, achieving ethical practice and helping individuals become the best version of themselves in the working environment. I also believe in women empowerment and therefore through studying this course it would provide me with an opportunity to action my belief by pushing women to go further and being an example to our future generation of Boss Women,” she said.

She extended her gratitude to her family for being her pillar of strength, during her time of need.

“I faced many challenges as a student like having COVID19, feeling alone in my studies, studying online and having no social life outside of online platforms, my computer was stolen with all my assignments and information still on it which was not backed up and lead to me having to redo all my assignments and submit in the space of one month whilst doing my in-service training. However, with hard work, prayer and a support structure which consisted of my family and friends I had all the motivation I needed to come out on top. Overall, I could have not done it all without God’s grace and favour upon my life,” she said.

Pillay is currently working at LabourNeta- a Human Resources Solutions Company which according to her provides her with the opportunity to grow and learn more about the field in which she had studied in. In addition, Pillay dedicated this achievement to her father. She claimed that her father had been a great mentor, supporter and advisor to her. Growing up, it wasn’t easy for Pillay but her father had always made sure that she had everything she needed.
