It is the first week of 2024, a great time to reflect on the previous year and plan for the year ahead. How was your festive season and what are your plans for this new year? The DUT Communications team, Patience Makhaye asked these questions to some of the DUT employees and this is what they had to say ….
Noluthando Mchunu, Manager: Design Studio.
“The holidays were a much needed break because we had been super busy in 2023. I spent the holidays with my family and this year, I am excited and looking forward to serving the university. The plan is to help the different units and departments have their own brand and make them shine in their own respective fields.”
Ndumiso Luthuli, Student Admissions Clerk: Student Admissions.
“I had a really great time spending time with friends and family, I would have enjoyed another week. My plans this year includes focusing on registration because it is the busiest time of the year and from there I will be attending workshops preparing for later on during the year.”
Nokwanda Magwaza, Security Guard: Fred Crookes Sports Centre, Steve Biko Campus.
“My holidays were busy because I was working and I also went home to check my family. My plans for this year are to get a driver’s license and save money to build a house for my family.”
Vinesh Ramlugan, Library Assistant: Steve Biko Library.
“The holidays were exciting because we were free to visit many places unlike when there was COVID-19. My plan is to save up for my daughter’s tuition because she is doing her matric this year.”
Georgina Kerr, Counselling Psychologist Intern: Student Counselling and Health.
“It was a wonderful time bonding with family but I wasn’t happy with the weather because we did not have so many beach days. I am expecting a lot to happen. I am ready to grow in this space and I am really grateful for the opportunity.”
Sinenhlanhla Masinga, Administrative Assistant: Faculty of Accounting and Informatics.
“My holidays were nice, I went home to see my family and we went to Mozambique on Christmas day and exchanged gifts. My plans for the year include getting a permanent job and registering for my Postgraduate Diploma.”
