DUT POST GRADUATE ASSOCIATION TO HOST ITS SOCIAL WEEK

The Durban University of Technology Post-Graduate Association (PGA) will be hosting a social week for all post-graduate students from Tuesday, 22 to Thursday, 24 August 2017.

Every year the DUT PGA executive hosts a series of events aimed at empowering, developing and guiding post-graduate students. According to DUT PGA President, Kunle Oparinde, the purpose of the social week is to engage and create a general umbrella for post-graduate students, so that they enjoy and reflect on their journey as post-graduates.

“This year, we have done something slightly different with our social week, not only have we focused on catering for the internal DUT community but we also have charity event in our program. This is one of the many initiatives that the Research office thought will be a great move for the university community,” said Oparinde.

The week will start on Tuesday, 22 August 2017 with an outreach programme where a children’s home and two schools from Inanda Township will be visited. On Wednesday, there will be an annual general meeting and interactive session at the DUT Hotel School conference centre, then on Thursday (24 August 2017), at the Fred Crookes Sport Centre, there will be a post-graduate sport day where lots of prizes and lucky draws will take place.

“We have identified a children’s home that needed blankets and sanitary towels, we have raised funds for this as the PGA executive and will be delivering the requested items on Tuesday. We will also be having a career expo with pupils from two high schools from Inanda Township,” said Oparinde.
