DUT LECTURER VISIT TO FRANCE

DUT LECTURER VISIT TO FRANCE

Tyrone Bright, a Mechanical Engineering Department Lecturer, and the Technology Station Director recently attended the 12th Annual International Conference on Industrial, Systems and Design Engineering in Athens, Greece. This conference was organised by the Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER). He presented his work on a Low-cost sensory glove for Human-Robot Collaboration for Advanced Manufacturing Systems. He was able to engage with conference delegates and contribute to the research field focused on Industry 4.0, Human-Robot Collaborative systems and Robotics.

He was subsequently invited to France to present his research at French Research institutes and universities across the South West. Since 2020, DUT has hosted the Franco-South African 3Dexperience academic centre, supported by Dassault Systèmes. The French Ministry of Education, DREIC and FEI appointed Professor Laurent Marche to manage this centre. Thanks to the partnership signed between DUT and ESTIA, the two universities can set up student and lecturer exchanges, a joint project through the 3Dexperience platform. Tyrone Bright and Prof Laurent Marche have been engaging in dynamic discussions about cutting-edge engineering research, education and how DUT and ESTIA can further grow their partnership and collaboration through this initiative.

Franck Cazaurang, CEO at Evering Institute, and Yoann GAC, operational director at CMQE Aerospace, invited the pair where they engaged with these institutes on how they could collaborate with DUT on joint research projects and student-staff exchange programmes. As part of the visit, Tyrone and Laurent could view the cutting-edge research they are currently involved in and were given a private tour of their state-of-the-art facilities. They were even able to fly a Rafale fighter jet
