The Durban University of Technology (DUT) approved the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework. The five values are identified as transparency, honesty, integrity, respect, and accountability. The principles espoused are fairness, professionalism, commitment, compassion, and excellence. DUT’s Communications team, Patience Makhaye, spoke to Okuhle Nkosithembile Ngubane, a Personal Assistant to the Senior Director-Real Estates Management.

Q: Kindly tell me about your role at DUT?

A: “I am an interim Personal Assistant to the Senior Director-Real Estates Management. I am the liaison personnel between staff and the Senior Director.”

Q: How long have you been a member of the DUT family?

A: “I have been a member for three months.”

Q: Amongst the mentioned ENVISION2030 Living Values and Principles, which one do you mostly associate with and why? 

A: “It would have to be integrity, I believe that when you are known to be a person of high integrity, your character speaks on your behalf even in your absence.”

Q: What are your views on the new DUT tagline: Creative. Distinctive. Impactful?

A: “It gives a challenge to everyone to contribute their uniqueness to achieve unified excellence.”

Q: How are you planning to keep abreast with the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework?  

A: “I am striving to excel in everything that I do with modesty”

Q: What is the one thing that most people do not know about you?  

A: “I believe in God and pray about everything.”

Q: In your opinion, how will the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework benefit DUT?

A: “By adopting these values DUT will produce staff that is ethical and full of integrity. Not by only being a singer of these values but also doers.”

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?  

A: “I am an aspiring make-up artist. So, I do practice a lot with my brushes.”

Q: How do you plan to make a positive impact at DUT?

A: “By blending in my warm personality to create a warm and unified working environment.”

Q: What is your daily motivation?  

A: “The urge to be better than yesterday.”

Q: What are your future goals at DUT? 

A: “If I am given a chance, I would like to grow within this institution as I love working here.”

Q: If you were granted one wish, what would it be?

A: “To be financially able to help as much needy people as I can.”
