Wandisa Noluthando Dzanibe is a step closer to achieving her dream of owning a wellness clinic.
The ambitious 22-year-old graduated Cum Laude for her Diploma in Somatology at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2024 Autumn Graduation ceremony held at the Olive Convention Centre, Durban, on Wednesday (22 May 2023).
“My dream is to establish my own wellness clinic focused on holistic skincare treatments and wellness programmes that promote overall well-being. Somatology is a personal passion of mine. I have always been fascinated by skincare, wellness, and the human body, which led me to pursue this field of study,’’ she said.
Born in uMzimkhulu, KwaZulu-Natal, Dzanibe shared that she is extremely happy and feels honoured to be one of the top achievers.
“Graduating Cum Laude is a testament to the hard work and dedication I put into my studies. It is a great honour to be recognised for academic excellence,’’ she said.
She highlighted how transformative her journey was at DUT. §She explained that she had benefited from the comprehensive curriculum and direct experiences which had enhanced her with a solid foundation in what transpires in the Somatology industry.
‘’I am grateful for the support and guidance I had received from my lecturers, mentors, and peers at DUT. Their expertise and encouragement had been instrumental in my academic success,’’ she said.
She also recognised the DUT ENVISION2030 living values and principles such as integrity and excellence for playing a role in nurturing her studies. “These values have guided me throughout my academic journey. They have shaped my approach to learning and professional growth,’’ she added.
To the first-year students who are aspiring to embark in a career in Somatology, she had advised them to immerse themselves in practical experiences, to stay updated on industry trends, and to continuously seek opportunities for professional development.
Dzanibe is currently studying for her Advanced Diploma in Somatology at DUT.
