STUDENT RECRUITMENT VISITS THE TOP FIVE FEEDER SCHOOLS TO DELIVER GOOD LUCK STATIONERY PACKS TO THE 2023 MATRICULANTS

As the 2023 matriculants have started writing their final examinations, the Student Recruitment unit at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) visited Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical High School, at Umbumbulu to hand over Good Luck packs to the matriculants for their final examinations, on Wednesday, 08 November 2023.

Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical High School is one of the top five schools that feeds DUT, as most of their learners apply and enrol at DUT. Other schools that were visited included: Empangeni High School, Aquadene Secondary High School, Adams College and Sthengile Senior Secondary School.

Mr Michael Zulu who is the Student Recruitment Officer at DUT said the Good Luck packs are simply to send a good luck message to the learners for the final examinations.

“We have been visiting schools across the country doing presentations and informing learners about our offerings as an institution of higher learning. Then we trace back to see if we got any students from the schools and this is monitored every year.  Sibusisiwe is one the schools that is consistent in being in the top five of the top feeders at DUT,” explained Mr Zulu.

Mr Zulu further said that every time they visit Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical High School, there is always a positive response in applications. “It does not only end at the positive response in applications but also the actual registered students as they have topped the list for the past three years,” he explained.

Mr Zulu mentioned that as Student Recruitment unit they believe that the learners need all the help they can get, not just emotional support but also with the stationery that they can use to write their examinations and that is the reason they provide the packs to the learners.

“Thank you, DUT, for supporting us in our matric journey and helping us with our applications for the year 2024. We are grateful for the Good Luck packs that we received and it will surely will help us throughout our examinations,” said Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical High School grade 12 learner, Nduduzo Gumbi.

Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical High School principal, Mr Emmanuel Duma appreciates the assistance that is always provided by DUT to their school for the past several years they have been working together. He wishes that the institution grows and continues to provide quality education that assists the youth to have a bright future and go to the market and be employable.

“On behalf of the entire DUT family, we would like to wish you the very best for your exams. We are extremely confident that your consistent, focused, hard work will deliver the results that you desire. We look forward to seeing you on one of our seven campuses in Durban or Pietermaritzburg next year,” is a message shared from the DUT Student Recruitment unit.
