Dr Ferina Marimuthu, from the Faculty of Accounting & Informatics, Head of Department: Financial Department, was awarded the Faculty Researcher of the year Award at the Institutional Awards ceremony. The prestigious event occurred at the Durban University of Technology Fred Crookes Sport Centre, Steve Biko Campus on the 26th of November 2022.

Faculty Researcher of the Year Award: This award is awarded to an applicant who is an academic or researcher currently conducting research and/or creative productivity; must be with DUT for a minimum of one academic year before applying and have a minimum of 3 accredited publication units for the Gold category for the award year.

Dr Marimuthu was awarded the Faculty Researcher of the year – under the Gold category.

These awards form part of the various initiatives by the university to encourage and motivate staff to excel in their academic work. Every year top performing staff members of all levels within the university are awarded for their outstanding work and dedication.

“It is a great honour for me to receive this special award. This accomplishment is a significant milestone in my academic journey and an incredible moment for me. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all that enabled me to achieve this goal,” said Dr Marimuthu.
