PROVIDING ESSENTIAL SERVICES TO THE DUT COMMUNITY IN THE TIMES OF A PANDEMIC

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) continues to commend all its essential workers for their dedication and commitment in providing services to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. DUT’s Communications teams Zanele Mashaba spoke to Zamandosi Ndlovu, the Midlands Student Administration Faculty Student Clerk who is based at the Riverside Campus at DUT.

Q: Kindly tell me about your role at DUT?

A: “I am the Faculty Student Clerk at the Riverside Campus.

Q: How long have you been in that role?

A: “I have been in this role since August 2014, but have been at DUT for more than 14 years.”

Q: Please describe yourself in a few words?

A: “I am an outgoing, friendly, hardworking, enthusiastic and highly motivated person.”

Q: How has it been like working during COVID-19?

A: “It has been challenging to adapt to the new system of online working, but as someone who easily adapts to changing environments I managed to pull through”.

Q: How do you deal with the fear of contracting COVID-19 and losing loved ones due to this virus?

A: “I make sure to abide by the COVID-19 rules and regulations and believe that my God and ancestors are protecting me”.

Q: What is your daily motivation?

A: “I am very passionate with assisting people and my role at the University allows me to do exactly that, so it makes me happy that I wake up every day to assist and make a difference in people’s lives especially students.”

Q: Please take me through a normal day in your life?

A: “My daily routine normally starts with a morning prayer, preparing for work and during my drive to work I enjoy listening to gospel music while preparing myself mentally for the day ahead.”

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

A: “I am an adventurous person who enjoys travelling, trying new restaurants and I love spending time with my family.”

Q: If you had one wish what would it be?

A: “One of my biggest wishes is for my children to be well educated and financially stable.”
