The Nedbank Cup Football Fan Fashion (#FFF) Journey will mark another milestone when it visits three university campuses, including the Durban University of Technology, in search of 16 student designers who will collaborate with 16 football superfans and 16 of SA’s top designers between 13-17 April.
The journey kicks off on 13 April at the University of Johannesburg, followed by the Cape Peninsula University of Technology on April 15 and concludes at the DUT’s City Campus on Friday 17 April 2015.
Through the #FFF, each super fan will work closely with a top designer who in turn will mentor a student designer from one of three fashion schools in designing pieces which draw inspiration from the supefans’ colours and iconography.
“We are looking forward to working with these renowned universities and enabling the aspiring fashion designers to move closer to their dreams. As a bank for all, investing in education, arts and sport development are key focus areas. This campaign provides us with an ideal platform to connect these focal areas and empower the youth and communities we serve with the resources they need to make things that really matter happen,” said Nkosinathi Msiza, Senior Communications Manager at Nedbank.
Students will present storyboards and garments depicting their creative process to a panel of judges, whose criteria for selection will be based on:
- Storyboard presentation (to show inspiration and level of research conducted).
- Concept for their designs.
- Originality (to show authenticity in their thinking and creative direction).
- Final garment (to show final design, execution and quality of the original idea and tailoring skills as a physical demonstration from sketch to final product).
Now in its second year, the campaign celebrates and empowers the game’s superfans – those dedicated supporters who wear the love of their teams on their sleeves.
Remaining true to its core business, Nedbank will also enable the students to be more financially savvy and provide its clients with an opportunity win their dreams. Ten clients simply have to share their ultimate dream by dialing *120*762# and stand a chance to win their share of R4 million.
