The Durban University of Technology in 2018 appointed, Interim Manager: Human Resource Business Partners and Resourcing, Blessing Qondile Zimu who is currently playing an instrumental role in enhancing the structures and processes of the Human Resources department at DUT.
She has more than 32 years experience in human resources which also includes being in the field as a social worker. She has spent over 15 years working in the human resources corporate services, and also has 15 years experience in human resources consultancy. She has also been part of various board committees in different organisations like the Department of Trade and Industry, and Mining Qualifications Authority.
Prior to joining DUT, Zimu was with the City of Johannesburg. Her main priority at the University is to deliver on existing protocol within service delivery at DUT.
Her responsibilities are facilitative towards the executive management and the employees of DUT, by providing her expertise in the section of auditing and grievances in the human resources department.
She further encourages students to pursue furthering their education by attaining their Master’s and PHD degrees as these are the most crucial aspects should anyone decide to look into a career into teaching in higher education and training.
Zimu aims to execute her duties with due diligence with the Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP), working closely with respective faculties, by achieving their strategies, and assisting in giving advice in performance management issues.
